NETEC (National Emerging Special Pathogens Training and Education Center) is a collaborative initiative between Emory University, the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue. As part of my work at UNMC, I led significant improvements to the NETEC website, transforming it into a more accessible, user-friendly, and mobile-responsive platform while enhancing its search engine optimization and overall performance.
Working alongside an external development vendor, I helped guide a complete modernization of the site’s infrastructure and user experience. This included migrating the website from internally hosted servers to Flywheel hosting and overseeing the development of a custom WordPress theme tailored to the organization’s unique needs.
In addition to platform and design improvements, I developed custom WordPress plugins and extensions to enhance functionality, integrate with existing tools, and address requirements that could not be met through off-the-shelf solutions. These customizations enabled NETEC to better manage content, streamline workflows, and deliver an improved experience for healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
